We would like to thank the Windriver Tribe for hosting a great and memorable weekend in Catalina and the Med Man for the spectacular weather. Lakota arrived in Newport as Tribe of the Month for October, our 370 points was enough to get the girls on the “Fast Boat” first.

It proved to be a weekend of firsts for many of the Princesses and the Dads too. Friday afternoons high speed boat ride and whale watching atop the Catalina Flyer was a great start to the weekend. Sweet Friday was a logistical challenge, but a big hit. The hot chocolate with marshmallows and cookies really hit the spot.

Our 3 ½ mile bear claw hike Saturday morning was full of firsts for some – giant rope swings, and bee stings. For most of us that was the first time we have walked that far and not had to carry our princess. More firsts Saturday afternoon, ocean kayaking and fishing, and oh by the way…Lakota girls are some fish catchin’ princesses!

Not a first, but a Lakota Princess favorite is bead trading Saturday evening. We always enjoy catching up with friends and trading beads with our sister Tribes. At the Nation Camp Fire the Lakota Tribe treated the nation to a twin bill. The ever popular “will you know me when?” knock-knock joke was performed by the girls with impeccable comedic timing and then the dads acted out the Six Aims as they were recited by the girls.

As a fun filled day was coming to an end the Lakota dads and girls then went back to camp and played a couple rounds of the telephone game. It looks like it may become the Saturday night pre-bedtime finale. Of course the weekend would not be complete with out 10 o’clock tacos (thanks ponies) and the ever popular late night Eucher.

Sunday morning afforded us time for a few more casts before boarding the dolphin escorted Catalina Flyer.
